Serial Slasher Strikes Again in Brooklyn – Police Urge Public Help
URGENT UPDATE: A serial slasher is on the loose in Brooklyn after carrying out THREE unprovoked attacks within just 24 hours. Authorities are appealing for public assistance in identifying the suspect, who has brutally slashed victims in the face during random encounters.
The string of attacks began on October 21, 2023, around 6:30 a.m. when the assailant struck a 37-year-old man aboard a Manhattan-bound Q train in Flatbush. The victim, who sustained a serious cut to the left side of his face, was able to exit the train at Church Ave. and alert police, while the attacker remained on board until the next stop, according to NYPD sources.
Following the initial incident, the suspect carried out two additional attacks. At approximately 9:40 p.m. the same day, he slashed a 53-year-old man near Foster and New York Aves., about a mile and a half from the earlier attack. Less than 12 hours later, at around 6:55 a.m. on October 22, 2023, he struck again, targeting a 56-year-old man just a block away, near Newkirk Ave. and New York Aves.
All three victims were transported to Kings County Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. The NYPD has since intensified their search efforts, deploying officers across several blocks in Flatbush to locate the suspect.
Police describe the attacker as wearing a navy blue jacket, black shorts, and white sneakers. Surveillance images have been released, and officials urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
These alarming incidents come on the heels of a disturbing subway stabbing on October 16, where a man was attacked during a heated argument on a rush-hour D train. The suspect in that case, Justice Jackson, has been charged with assault and is currently held at Rikers Island.
As the community grapples with these violent acts, police are reminding residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The urgency of these attacks serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in public spaces.
