Regional Piano Students Shine in Auditions for Annual Recitals

The NEPA Music Teachers Association recently hosted auditions for students aiming to perform at the annual Sutton recitals. This prestigious event will take place at Darte Hall, located at Wilkes University. The auditions provided a platform for talented regional piano students to showcase their skills in front of esteemed judges, including Ann Manganiello and David Meehan.

The Sutton recitals are set for November at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, further emphasizing the importance of this event in the local music community. Leonarda Sperrazza chaired the auditions, with Andrea Bogusko serving as co-chair and Valerie Grabiec overseeing the theory test component.

A total of 13 teachers from the NEPA Music Teachers Association participated, including notable figures such as Andrea Bogusko, Sheila Butkiewicz, and Judith Miller. Their involvement underscores the collaborative spirit among educators dedicated to fostering musical talent in the region.

Among the students who auditioned, many received recognition for their performances, earning silver and gold medals. The list of award recipients includes first-row performers like Eli DeMarco, Zara Patel, and Myra Patel, showcasing a diverse range of talent. The second row featured students such as Krish Bajaj and Lexi Cazaubon, while the third row included performers like John Fedor and Dyan Dinstel. The participation of Arushi Solgama also added to the event’s success.

These auditions not only highlight the individual achievements of students but also reflect the broader commitment of the NEPA Music Teachers Association to support and nurture young musicians. As the annual recitals approach, anticipation builds within the community, promising an evening of exceptional musical performances.
