Kelsea Ballerini Launches ‘Burn the Baggage’ Candle with Ranger Station

Kelsea Ballerini has partnered with Nashville-based perfumer Ranger Station to introduce a new candle titled ‘Burn the Baggage.’ This product draws inspiration from her hit song “Baggage” and aims to evoke a sense of healing and comfort after heartbreak. The candle is set to launch in November 2024, coinciding with the expanded release of Ballerini’s fifth studio album.
The scent of ‘Burn the Baggage’ is described as “soft yet complex,” reflecting the emotional journey of moving on from a breakup. Ballerini recalls her childhood fondness for warm vanilla scents, stating, “It’s the first thing that I remember loving the smell of.” She explains that this candle aims to create a comforting atmosphere, reminiscent of cozy moments spent in oversized sweaters and fuzzy socks.
Ballerini elaborates on the candle’s symbolism, noting that the melted wax represents the pain and consequences of lost love. “It just felt like the perfect kind of metaphor for a candle,” she said. Since its release in October 2024, the song “Baggage” has garnered over 48 million streams on Spotify.
Unique Collaboration with Ranger Station
The collaboration with Ranger Station marks Ballerini as the first female artist to partner with the brand, which has previously collaborated with country music stars Dan and Shay, along with Noah Kahan. Co-founders Steve Soderholm and Jordan Soderholm expressed their enthusiasm for working with Ballerini, who has long been a fan of their products. “I’ve always been a fan of their candles, especially being locally made,” Ballerini commented.
In developing this unique fragrance, Soderholm ventured into floral scents, a departure from his usual earthy and woodsy aromas. He stated, “Kelsea gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. From the beginning, she wanted to tell a story of two things: heartbreak and growth.” This approach allowed Soderholm to blend floral notes with earthy undertones, creating a scent that embodies the duality of emotional experiences.
To enhance the candle experience, Ballerini and Ranger Station will also offer a complimentary cocktail recipe. Titled “I Rode Off Into the Tequila Sunset,” the drink draws inspiration from another of Ballerini’s popular songs, “First Rodeo.”
Supporting Mental Health Initiatives
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of ‘Burn the Baggage’ will benefit Porter’s Call, a nonprofit organization that provides mental health support for recording artists and their families. Ballerini hopes that the candle can reach beyond her fan base, encouraging individuals to discover it either by visiting the Ranger Station store in Nashville or through retail partner Revolve.
“I hope that people find it… whether they know and enjoy my music or not,” she said. “I think it’s a candle that should be on everyone’s bedside table this November.” With its meaningful storyline and commitment to mental health, ‘Burn the Baggage’ represents not just a product, but a thoughtful reflection on personal growth and resilience.
