Treyarch Adjusts Aim Assist for Black Ops 7 and Warzone

Treyarch has acknowledged that players using controllers have a slight advantage in close-range combat in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This is due to the aim assist feature, which the developer plans to rework ahead of the game’s release. In addition, Raven Software is looking to implement similar adjustments for Call of Duty: Warzone.

In a recent development, Treyarch’s design director, Matt Scronce, discussed the balance between controller and mouse-and-keyboard players in a developer talk video. According to Scronce, “controller players are winning slightly more in close-range engagements, and then keyboard-mouse players are winning slightly more in those long-range engagements.” This differentiation highlights the need for a rebalancing of aim assist to create a more equitable playing field.

Plans for Rebalancing Aim Assist

The primary goal for Treyarch is to address the disparity in performance across various ranges. Scronce stated, “What we’re going to do here is to try to close that gap, take a very close look at the strength of aim assist across all of those ranges.” This includes examining rotational aim assist, which requires players to adjust their right aim stick in the direction of their target.

Following Treyarch’s lead, Raven Software confirmed via a Twitter post that they would collaborate to explore potential adjustments to aim assist in Season 01 of Warzone. This initiative aims to ensure balance and fairness for all players, regardless of their preferred control method. The specifics of these adjustments have yet to be disclosed, but both companies are committed to fostering a more harmonious gaming environment.

Additional Updates for Black Ops 7

In addition to aim assist changes, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will introduce several gameplay enhancements. Players will now be able to aim down sights while performing actions such as sliding, diving, and wall jumping without the need for specific perks. Furthermore, the game will feature louder footsteps, which may affect player strategies during matches.

These changes reflect Treyarch’s commitment to improving gameplay dynamics and addressing feedback from the community.
