Sarah Ferguson Changes Social Media Handle After Andrew’s Title Loss

Sarah Ferguson has made a discreet change to her social media presence following her ex-husband Prince Andrew’s decision to relinquish his royal title. This change comes amid rising scrutiny over Andrew’s ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Royal observers noted that Ferguson, 66, updated her handle on X from @SarahTheDutchess to @sarahMFergie15, moving away from the title Duchess of York, which she held due to her previous marriage to Andrew.

Ferguson and Andrew, who married in July 1986, share two daughters—Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Despite their divorce in May 1996, the couple has remained closely connected, frequently appearing together at public events.

On October 17, 2023, Andrew announced he would officially give up his royal title, a move linked to ongoing investigations regarding his historical friendship with Epstein. Reports indicate that he is under scrutiny for allegedly instructing his personal security team to gather information about his late accuser, Virginia Giuffre, prior to her death in April 2025. Giuffre, who died by suicide at age 41, had posthumously published a memoir titled Nobody’s Girl, which further complicates Andrew’s public image.

In a statement, Andrew expressed, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.” He emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his family and country, reiterating his decision to step back from public life, a choice he initially made in 2019 following Giuffre’s allegations of sexual assault when she was a minor.

Andrew’s statement continued, “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

In 2021, Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew for sexual abuse, which was settled out of court the following year for an undisclosed amount. Giuffre’s memoir, released on October 21, 2023, recounts her allegations of sexual encounters with Andrew and Epstein. Giuffre claims that she was coerced into having sex with Andrew on three occasions when she was 17 and 18 years old, including a notable incident in London, which was documented by a photograph taken by Epstein.

In her book, Giuffre described a specific moment when she felt compelled to pose for a picture with Andrew, stating, “My mom would never forgive me if I met someone as famous as Prince Andrew and didn’t pose for a picture.” She recalled rushing to get a camera to capture the moment, which included Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

During one encounter, Giuffre alleged that she participated in an “orgy” involving Andrew and Epstein, claiming that the other girls were underage and spoke little English. She described Epstein’s comments about their inability to communicate, suggesting they were easier to manipulate.

As Ferguson navigates this latest chapter in her life, her subtle change on social media reflects a complex intertwining of personal and public narratives amid ongoing royal controversies.
