Fatal Crash on I-88 Claims Two Lives in North Aurora
URGENT UPDATE: A tragic traffic crash on Interstate 88 in North Aurora has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, confirmed by the Illinois State Police. The incident occurred on October 14, 2023, at approximately 8:10 PM, near Mitchell Road.
The victims have been identified as Diego Nava Torres, age 32, and Samantha Ortiz, age 33, both residents of Chicago. Authorities pronounced them dead at the scene, highlighting the severe nature of the collision.
According to a statement from the Kane County Coroner’s Office, autopsies were completed on Monday, revealing that the preliminary cause of death was due to multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the crash. Toxicology samples have been submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Initially, two lanes of traffic were closed as authorities worked to gather evidence and assess the scene. However, the lanes have since reopened to facilitate the flow of traffic.
