Finken, 27, had been grappling with thinning hair and male pattern baldness since his early twenties. By the age of 24, he frequently wore hats, feeling uncomfortable in social situations without one. The swelling peaked around the third day post-surgery, causing discomfort and temporary vision obstruction due to bruising under his eye.

Finken reassured his followers that the swelling was a normal reaction during recovery. He explained, “The main thing that’s going to cause that swelling is the saline and anesthesia solution that they inject into your head.” He noted that genetic factors can influence how individuals’ lymphatic systems respond to the procedure, resulting in varying degrees of swelling.

Reflecting on his pre-operative choices, Finken admitted to drinking alcohol the weekend before his surgery, a decision he now regrets. “You should not do this because it causes vascular dilation and also makes local anesthesia less effective,” he cautioned.

Despite the initial trauma of his appearance, Finken expressed no regrets about his decision. The recovery process, he noted, has been less painful than expected. “The first night was rough, but as of Day 5, the pain is almost nonexistent,” he remarked.

As his hair begins to grow back, Finken considers the transplant one of the best decisions he has made for himself. He encourages others contemplating similar procedures, stating, “If it’s something that can improve your confidence or quality of life, there’s nothing wrong with doing it.”
