Born on November 27, 1946, to Julius and Leona Janke in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Joyce spent her formative years in Lake Park. After completing high school, she relocated to Fargo, where she began her career as a housekeeper at the Donaldson Hotel. Joyce dedicated many years to this role until health issues forced her to retire.

Throughout her life, Joyce maintained an active lifestyle, enjoying bike rides around town. She had a passion for music and cooking, with a particular fondness for preparing goulash, a dish that held special significance for her. Joyce’s commitment to staying active and engaged with her community was evident in her daily activities.

Family and Legacy

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Wanda Erdmann (Troy), grandchildren Ashlee, Taylor, and Jadyn, as well as great-grandchildren Jaxon, Sky, Jerzee, and Oaklee. She also leaves behind her siblings: Jeanette Gunderson, Janice Longtine (Orvis), Julian Janke (Connie), and Jill Herbert (Bill), along with a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her great-grandson Easton, and several siblings, including Julie Harrison (Bob), Jerome Janke, Jean Gable (Ron), and Jerry Janke, as well as her brother-in-law Richard Gunderson.
