Kim Kardashian Discusses Co-Parenting with Kanye West in Candid Interview

In a recent episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy, Kim Kardashian opened up about her complex co-parenting relationship with her former husband, Kanye West. The couple shares four children: North, aged 12, Saint, aged 9, Chicago, aged 7, and Psalm, aged 6. Kardashian described the challenges of their arrangement while emphasizing her commitment to fostering a healthy relationship between West and their children.
Kardashian stated, “I welcome a great healthy relationship with my kids and their dad,” noting that she actively encourages their bond. She explained that co-parenting requires constant effort and adaptability. “It goes in waves and phases, and it’s a lot of work,” she added.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Kardashian highlighted the positive relationship she had with her own father, which influences her parenting style today. “I have the best memories and the best relationship, you know, with my dad,” she shared. She expressed admiration for the way her sister, Khloé Kardashian, and her partner Tristan Thompson co-parent their children, noting how Thompson is actively involved in their lives.
When discussing West’s involvement, Kardashian revealed that their children have not seen him in “a couple of months.” She noted that West’s frequent travels between countries complicate their family dynamics. “They always knew that he had a big life traveling before and was always on tour,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a stable routine for their children while managing West’s unpredictable schedule.
Kardashian addressed misconceptions about her parenting decisions, particularly the narrative that she has kept the children from West. “I’ve never once done that,” she asserted. She expressed frustration with public perceptions, stating, “I think that all that narrative really sucks for me.”
In discussing her marriage’s dissolution, Kardashian stated that it was not due to a single incident but rather a multitude of issues. She mentioned that West’s behavior, including public outbursts and emotional volatility, made it difficult to maintain a stable environment for their children. “Just not feeling safe, you know, not even physically, just, like, maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially,” she explained.
Kardashian also reflected on how challenging it is to navigate a relationship that can be toxic, particularly with children involved. “When you have kids, it’s definitely harder to leave than it is to stay,” she noted. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing her mental health in order to be a present and effective parent. “Once my mental health starts to get affected and then I can’t parent the way that I need to, then there’s gotta be one of us that can,” she added.
The public response to Kardashian’s candid comments has been largely supportive, with many praising her for her maturity and grace in handling the situation. Comments from fans ranged from acknowledging her parenting skills to recognizing the difficulty of her circumstances. “Her kids are gonna appreciate her being as available as she’s made herself for them,” commented one supporter.
As Kardashian continues to navigate her co-parenting relationship with West, she remains focused on the well-being of her children and fostering a nurturing environment for their growth and happiness.
