On January 4, 2026, police in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, managed a busy day, responding to more than 20 incidents. The range of calls included traffic violations, domestic disputes, property damage, and various weather-related hazards.

Hazardous Road Conditions and Traffic Stops

The day commenced shortly after midnight with hazardous road conditions along Ramp K near Route 422. Icy conditions left several tractor-trailers stranded, prompting officers to close the ramp until crews from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) arrived to treat the road with salt. In the same area, police discovered that an electronic “curve ahead” sign had been knocked down, leading to additional reports of property damage.

Throughout the early hours, officers conducted multiple traffic stops, issuing warnings and citations for various violations. Allegations included issues with registration plates, failure to signal, driving without headlights, and driving without a valid license. In one notable incident near Penn Avenue and Bern Road, police found a passenger in possession of marijuana, which was confiscated, while the driver received a warning.

Domestic and Welfare Calls

At approximately 02:16, police responded to a call regarding a visibly intoxicated woman on Penn Avenue who was yelling while standing in the roadway. Officers reported that the woman declined medical treatment and was later transported to her residence, where she was released to family members.

Later in the morning, officers were dispatched to handle a reported physical domestic dispute. Upon arrival, they found that the male involved had already left the scene, and the female complainant declined further assistance and refused to provide her name, resulting in no further action from the police.

Throughout the day, police received additional calls including a welfare check for a man reportedly slumped over at a shopping center, who informed officers he was merely sleeping. Officers also assisted the Shillington Police in serving a protection-from-abuse order and addressed a disorderly conduct complaint involving an individual previously trespassed from a location, who had left before officers arrived.

In the afternoon, police documented a late-reported hit-and-run crash on Route 222 near Crossing Drive. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and neither vehicle required towing. Additionally, officers responded to a false burglar alarm on State Hill Road and addressed several animal-related incidents, including reports of a loose pit bull and a dog left unattended in a vehicle during the cold weather. Officers also dealt with a separate incident where a vehicle struck and killed a dog on a ramp leading from Route 222, prompting PennDOT to be contacted for the removal of the deceased animal.

As evening approached, police continued to manage various incidents, including additional traffic stops, parking complaints, and a disabled vehicle along Penn Avenue. They also responded to a 911 hang-up call that was later determined to be accidental. The day concluded with an automatic fire alarm on Park Road North, which was attributed to burnt food, as confirmed by personnel from the Wyomissing Fire Department.

All incidents described remain allegations or preliminary findings. Each suspect, arrestee, or defendant referenced in connection with these matters is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
