Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant Join ‘Babies’ Cast
Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant have officially joined the cast of the upcoming comedy-drama film Babies. This project, directed by Lauren Miller Rogen, also stars Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen. Currently in production in Los Angeles, the film explores the challenges faced by couples considering parenthood.
The narrative centers around Annie, played by Kendrick, and her husband Aaron, portrayed by Seth Rogen. The couple grapples with the decision of whether to start a family when their friend, recently divorced, moves in with her four-year-old child. The addition of Rae, Stevens, Cherry, and Berlant enriches the ensemble cast in supporting roles, promising a dynamic mix of talent.
Production and Support
Filming for Babies is taking place on location in Los Angeles, benefiting from the support of the California Tax Credit program. AGC Studios and Monarch Media are producing the film, with AGC Studios and CAA Media Finance co-representing worldwide rights. AGC is handling sales at the American Film Market, which showcases a variety of new films and projects.
Miller Rogen, who previously directed Like Father, is at the helm of this new venture alongside producers Jen W. Ray, Stuart Ford, and Steve Barnett. The film’s executive producers include Miguel A. Palos Jr., Zach Garrett, Alan Powell, Vicky Patel, and Sophie Høegh.
Cast Profiles and Recent Works
Issa Rae is widely recognized for her role in the HBO series Insecure and has recently appeared in the blockbuster film Barbie and American Fiction. Her involvement in Babies adds considerable star power to the project.
Dan Stevens, known for his breakout role in Downton Abbey, was most recently featured in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the Netflix series Zero Day. His experience in both dramatic and fantastical roles makes him a versatile addition to the cast.
Zach Cherry is recognized for his performance in the Apple TV+ series Severance and as a co-host of The Great American Baking Show on Roku. His comedic background is expected to bring a light-hearted element to the film.
Kate Berlant co-created and starred in the A24/Peacock special Would It Kill You to Laugh? and will also appear in the upcoming film Maddie’s Secret. Her unique comedic style is anticipated to complement the film’s overall tone.
