UT Austin Named No. 1 in Texas for Future Leaders in 2023
URGENT UPDATE: The University of Texas at Austin is making headlines as it has been named the No. 1 university in Texas for fostering future leaders, according to a recent ranking by Time magazine. This significant recognition highlights UT Austin’s commitment to leadership development and comes as the university continues to excel across various key metrics.
As of October 2023, UT Austin secured the No. 5 spot among public universities nationwide, emphasizing its role in shaping the next generation of influential figures. This prestigious ranking was determined by an analysis of 4,800 influential leaders spanning corporate, educational, and cultural sectors, conducted by Time in collaboration with Statista.
The School of Civic Leadership has launched its inaugural cohort this fall, providing students with practical and interdisciplinary leadership opportunities. Programs like the Dell Medical School’s Health Leadership Apprentice Program and the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute are at the forefront of empowering students with essential skills for life and career success.
This latest recognition aligns with UT’s ongoing achievements, including maintaining its ranking as the No. 1 public university in Texas and No. 7 public university in the U.S. according to U.S. News & World Report. The university has also reached new milestones in enrollment metrics, setting records in total enrollment, first-year retention rates, and degrees conferred.
The impact of these leadership programs is evident in the success stories of UT alumni. Notable Longhorns include Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies; Maj. Gen. Jeannie M. Leavitt, the U.S. Air Force’s first female fighter pilot; and Kay Bailey Hutchison, former ambassador to NATO and three-term U.S. senator from Texas. Their accomplishments underline the effectiveness of the leadership training provided at UT Austin.
