Trump ‘Panicked’ as House Set to Vote on Epstein Files Next Week
UPDATE: Tensions are escalating as the House prepares for a crucial vote next week on a bill demanding the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. House Oversight Committee’s top Democrat, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), claims that President Donald Trump is “completely panicked” over the impending decision, which could significantly impact the ongoing investigations into Epstein and his associates.
Garcia, speaking on MSNBC, stated, “He is desperate. He knows the American public is all now lining up to fight to ensure that the release of the files actually happens.” He accused Trump of attempting to “intimidate” lawmakers and “weaponize the government” to block the vote.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has been compelled to schedule this pivotal vote after a discharge petition garnered enough signatures to proceed. Trump’s efforts to thwart the vote reportedly included pressuring House Republicans to retract their support for the petition, a move that ultimately failed.
As the vote approaches, Trump convened an emergency meeting in the Situation Room to strategize against the release, and he has launched public attacks on GOP members backing the bill. The urgency of this situation is palpable, with Garcia confidently predicting that the measure will pass “with substantial numbers.”
“What’s in the DOJ dwarfs what we’ve already seen through Epstein’s estate,” Garcia emphasized. He highlighted the need for transparency and justice for the survivors, stating, “We have to get access to the full Epstein files at the DOJ.” He added that these files are currently under subpoena from their committee and that the Justice Department has been unresponsive.
In a striking prediction, Rep. Melania Stansbury (D-NM) warned that the fallout from Epstein could lead to a scandal for the Trump administration “as explosive as Watergate,” potentially marking the end of Trump’s political career. Garcia echoed her sentiments, asserting that it is increasingly evident that Trump is engaged in a cover-up regarding Epstein. “This is a White House cover-up, and that Donald Trump is absolutely hiding something,” he stated.
The House vote is expected to take place next week, and with heightened public interest, the implications of the outcomes could resonate far beyond Capitol Hill. As the clock ticks down, all eyes are on the developments surrounding this critical issue and the potential ramifications for Trump and his administration.
