Trae Young to Sit Out vs. Spurs Due to Knee Injury Management
UPDATE: Trae Young will not play against the San Antonio Spurs this evening due to ongoing management of a right knee injury. The Atlanta Hawks confirmed that Young, who just returned from a significant injury layoff, will rest during the second game of back-to-back matchups.
Young participated in 20 minutes of action on Thursday, contributing 8 points and 10 assists in a 133-126 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. His performance marked his first game back after missing 22 games because of a sprained right MCL sustained on October 29 against the Brooklyn Nets.
This latest decision highlights the Hawks’ cautious approach to managing Young’s recovery. The team is also dealing with the absence of Kristaps Porzingis, who is sidelined due to illness and will be out for two weeks for further evaluations. Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) last season while with the Boston Celtics, a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system.
The Hawks have struggled with player availability, as Porzingis has missed nine of the last eleven games. This situation raises significant concerns for the team as they prepare for crucial matchups.
Fans are urged to stay updated as the team navigates these injury challenges. The game against the Spurs is set to tip off tonight at 7:30 PM ET. The Hawks are looking to regroup and find a way to secure a victory without their two key players on the court.
As the situation develops, keep an eye on further updates regarding Young’s recovery timeline and Porzingis’s health assessments. This is a pivotal moment for the Hawks as they strive to maintain competitiveness in the league amid these setbacks.
