Oscar Isaac Open to Star Wars Return If Disney Changes Course
BREAKING: Oscar Isaac has made a striking statement regarding his potential return to the Star Wars franchise. In an interview with GQ Magazine for its ‘Men of the Year 2025’ series, Isaac revealed he would consider reprising his role as Poe Dameron if Disney addresses its recent controversies and “doesn’t succumb to fascism.”
This revelation comes as fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter of Star Wars, with the franchise facing a six-year hiatus since the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Isaac’s comments, made while promoting his role in Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein, highlight the ongoing tensions between Disney and its critics.
Reflecting on a previous remark he made in 2020 about returning to Star Wars only for monetary reasons, Isaac stated, “I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney.” This statement was particularly timely, as it followed the recent controversy surrounding late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who was pulled off air amid backlash over comments related to the right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk.
“If they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great,” Isaac emphasized.
Isaac’s caution reflects broader concerns about Disney’s handling of political pressures since the return of the Trump administration. Earlier this year, the company faced backlash for complying with executive orders that dismantled Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, along with allegations of self-censorship regarding storylines involving transgender characters.
As Disney navigates these turbulent waters, Isaac’s potential return to the galaxy far, far away may hinge on the studio’s willingness to address these issues. With the future of Star Wars projects still uncertain, fans are left wondering if they will see Isaac behind the controls of an X-Wing again anytime soon.
For now, Lucasfilm continues to struggle to get new Star Wars films off the ground, despite ongoing efforts to develop storylines that follow the events of the sequel trilogy. As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on Disney and its ability to reconcile its creative ambitions with the growing demands of the public.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops, and consider the implications of Isaac’s remarks on the future of the beloved franchise.
