Nonprofit Pays Off Mortgage for Family of Fallen Firefighter
URGENT UPDATE: The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has just announced it will pay off the mortgage for the family of fallen Burnsville Fire Department firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth. This generous support comes through the Fallen First Responder Home Program as part of its 2025 Season of Hope initiative.
Finseth, 40, tragically lost his life during a shooting incident on February 18, 2024, while responding to a domestic violence call in Burnsville, Minnesota. He was recognized for his unwavering bravery, acting without hesitation to assist officers in a high-stakes situation. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, inspired by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, highlighted Finseth’s heroism, stating he “acted without hesitation in his last moments.”
On that fateful night, Finseth was one of the two SWAT medics on duty. Despite it being his scheduled day off, he rushed to the scene to protect seven children who were in imminent danger. Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann praised Finseth’s dedication, declaring him the department’s Firefighter of the Year for his commitment to public safety.
As officers negotiated with the man involved in the standoff, he suddenly opened fire. Finseth, while attempting to provide medical aid to an officer, was shot by the assailant, who then fatally took his own life. Thankfully, Finseth’s actions ensured that the children and the man’s girlfriend were unharmed.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s initiative to pay off the Finseth family’s mortgage is a testament to the community’s appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice made by first responders like Adam Finseth. This act of support not only alleviates financial burdens but also serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made in the line of duty.
As the Finseth family navigates this difficult time, the community’s efforts to honor Adam’s legacy continue to grow. This heartfelt act from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a crucial step in supporting those left behind by fallen heroes.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story and the ongoing support for the Finseth family.
