UPDATE: The Utah Mammoth have secured their sixth consecutive victory with a commanding 6-2 win over the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday night. Logan Cooley was the standout player, scoring two goals within the first 3:29 of the game, demonstrating his explosive talent just days after a hat trick performance against St. Louis.

Cooley ignited the scoring frenzy with a remarkable goal just 56 seconds into the game, deftly backhanding the puck out of midair and past Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson. His second goal came at the 3:29 mark on a power play, capitalizing on a slashing penalty against Minnesota’s Yakov Trenin. The Mammoth quickly built a 3-0 lead when Nick Schmaltz netted his sixth goal of the season just shy of the five-minute mark.

However, the Wild fought back, with veteran Marcus Johansson scoring twice to narrow the gap. Johansson’s first goal came from a powerful one-timer with 4:21 left in the first period. He followed up with another goal late in the second period, pulling Minnesota within one at 3-2 with just 8 seconds remaining on the power play.

In the third period, JJ Peterka extended Utah’s lead to 4-2 at the 6:23 mark. Schmaltz then added his second goal, pushing the Mammoth ahead 5-2. Notably, Schmaltz has scored an impressive seven goals in his last five games. The Mammoth capped off the night with an empty-net goal from John Marino with just 5.1 seconds remaining, sealing the victory.

Mammoth goalie Karel Vejmelka was instrumental in the win, making 32 saves to keep Minnesota at bay. This latest win is a critical moment for Utah, as they aim to extend their winning streak to seven games against Winnipeg on Sunday.

Fans are already buzzing about Cooley’s performance and the overall team effort as the Mammoth continue to build momentum in the league. As they head into their next game, all eyes will be on their quest to maintain this winning streak and solidify their position in the standings.
