Giannis Returns, Bucks Edge Hornets 147-134 in Overtime Thriller
UPDATE: In a thrilling overtime finish, the Milwaukee Bucks triumphed over the Charlotte Hornets 147-134 on November 14, 2025, thanks to the sensational return of Giannis Antetokounmpo. The star forward delivered a commanding performance, scoring 25 points, dishing out 18 assists, and grabbing seven rebounds.
This urgent NBA Cup matchup saw the Bucks bounce back after their recent loss to the Hornets, where they fell 111-100 just two nights earlier. Antetokounmpo had been sidelined due to patellar tendinopathy in his left knee, but his comeback proved pivotal in securing the victory at the Fiserv Forum.
The game showcased an intense showdown, particularly featuring former Milwaukee high school standout Kon Knueppel, who scored a remarkable 32 points in his NBA debut in his hometown. Knueppel’s clutch shooting included two late tying 3-pointers that forced the game into overtime, thrilling the local crowd.
With the Bucks leading 125-120, Knueppel hit a critical three-pointer with just 1:34 left in regulation to tie the game. Moments later, following a missed dunk from Miles Bridges, he struck again, tying it at 129 with only 21 seconds remaining. However, Antetokounmpo’s air-ball at the buzzer sent the game into an extension.
In overtime, the Bucks surged ahead, with Kyle Kuzma leading the charge with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Despite the Hornets’ efforts, including 32 points from Bridges and solid contributions from LaMelo Ball and Moussa Diabate, the Bucks held firm to clinch the win.
Milwaukee improved to 8-5 overall and remains undefeated in the NBA Cup at 2-0, while Charlotte fell to 4-8 and 0-2 in the tournament.
Looking ahead, the Hornets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night, while the Bucks gear up to face the Los Angeles Lakers in another high-stakes matchup. Fans are eagerly anticipating these upcoming games as both teams look to improve their standings.
This electrifying encounter not only highlights the resilience and talent of Giannis Antetokounmpo but also marks a significant moment for Kon Knueppel as he makes his mark in the NBA, promising an exciting season ahead.
