Festival of Trees Returns to Racine, Local Businesses Rally Support
URGENT UPDATE: After a hiatus of over 10 years, Racine’s beloved Festival of Trees is set to make a triumphant return this Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Festival Hall. This festive event will feature more than 40 decorated trees and aims to support local nonprofits, reigniting a cherished holiday tradition.
The festival, which used to be a cornerstone of Racine’s holiday celebrations for nearly two decades, has sparked excitement among community members and local businesses alike. “A lot of good memories, a lot of fun,” said Dan Reisdorf of Milaeger’s, reflecting on his participation in past festivals. “We participated every year. I think it was almost like 20 years that they had the Festival of Trees.”
The emotional impact of the festival resonates deeply with attendees. Robert Felle of Felle & Associates recalled how the event brought joy to his family, stating, “My mother-in-law was a huge fan of it. One of the last years they held it, she actually won two trees that year.”
This revival has reignited the holiday spirit among longtime participants. “I missed it so much. It’s always been almost like a part of my life this time of the year,” added Reisdorf. The anticipation for the festival’s growth in future years is palpable, with Felle noting, “It has been historically one of the best events, I think, we’ve had in Racine.”
Local businesses are playing a vital role in the festival’s return, showcasing their commitment to community involvement. Dawn Carrillo of the Racine Farmers Market called the event a “win-win” for the community, emphasizing its dual benefit of promoting local businesses while supporting nonprofits. “What a great opportunity to be part of it,” she said.
The festival is a vibrant showcase of community spirit, with each tree sponsored and decorated by local organizations and individuals. Themes range from the Grinch to local bars and the farmers’ market, adding a unique touch to the event. Visitors will have the chance to win these beautifully decorated trees through raffles, taking home not just the tree but all its festive trimmings.
The Festival of Trees opens its doors to the public this Saturday, inviting families and friends to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit. “I just think it brings a lot of people together,” said Wendy Coey of the City of Racine Tavern League.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to reconnect with a beloved Racine tradition. More details about the Festival of Trees can be found at Festival Park’s official website.
This event promises to not only celebrate the holidays but also foster community ties and support for local nonprofits, ensuring that Racine’s holiday spirit shines bright once again.
