Emeryville Man Sentenced to 6 Years for Pimping Scheme
UPDATE: In a shocking case of exploitation, Christopher Lee Card, a 40-year-old man from Emeryville, has been sentenced to six years in state prison for pimping a woman under the guise of a modeling job. This urgent development comes as authorities continue to crack down on human trafficking and related crimes.
Court records reveal that Card pleaded no contest to the charges last October 2023 and received approximately four years of credit for time served while awaiting trial. Card’s arrest in 2021 stemmed from a harrowing report by the victim, who disclosed that she was held against her will at a hotel in Union City.
The victim, who traveled from out of state after being promised a modeling opportunity, reported that Card forced her into prostitution, stating he made her have sex with “as many as I possibly could in one day.” This distressing revelation highlights the grim realities of human trafficking. Although initial charges included human trafficking, they were dropped as part of a plea deal.
While awaiting trial, Card faced additional legal troubles. He was arrested for allegedly assaulting the 71-year-old caretaker of his grandmother, although this charge was eventually dropped. Legal proceedings were further complicated in 2023 by claims of his mental incompetence to stand trial.
Card, who also went by the name Samir Haseen, was living in Emeryville at the time of his arrest. This case underscores the ongoing issues of exploitation and trafficking in communities across the country.
Authorities are now calling for increased awareness and vigilance against such crimes. The sentence serves as a reminder that those who exploit vulnerable individuals will face significant consequences.
As this case concludes, experts urge the public to remain informed and proactive in combating human trafficking. The community’s involvement is crucial in preventing future cases and supporting victims of such heinous crimes.
Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops and share your thoughts on how we can all work together to prevent human trafficking in our communities.
