Elon Musk Declares Tesla’s Optimus Will Be ‘Incredible Surgeon’

UPDATE: Elon Musk has just announced that Tesla’s upcoming bipedal robot, Optimus, will not only perform tasks but is also poised to become an “incredible surgeon.” This bold claim was made during Tesla’s latest earnings call, where Musk emphasized the transformative potential of the robot.
During the call, Musk described Optimus as an “infinite money glitch,” suggesting it could revolutionize Tesla’s profits in unprecedented ways. He stated, “Imagine if everyone had access to an incredible surgeon… We’re headed for a world of sustainable abundance,” highlighting a vision where affordable, high-quality medical care is accessible to all.
Despite no current demonstrations of its surgical capabilities, Optimus has previously showcased its skills in kung fu, egg handling, and even serving popcorn. Tesla aims to start mass production of Optimus by 2026, with a target of producing up to 1 million units annually.
Musk elaborated, “We’re on the cusp of something really tremendous with Optimus, which has the potential to be the biggest product of all time.” However, he acknowledged the significant challenges in scaling manufacturing, calling it “an incredibly difficult task.”
In an intriguing twist, Musk used the excitement around Optimus to rally shareholders for a new CEO pay package, potentially worth as much as $1 trillion. He stated he wouldn’t be comfortable creating a “robot army” without gaining more control over Tesla, amplifying the urgency surrounding the company’s future.
While Optimus and Tesla’s plans for robotaxis captured attention, updates on new electric vehicle models were notably scarce during the earnings call. Tesla’s head of investor relations indicated that such discussions were “not the appropriate venue” for the current meeting, leaving investors eager for more information.
As Tesla prepares for the public debut of Optimus Version 3 in early 2026, the tech world watches closely for developments. With Musk’s ambitious vision, the potential for Optimus as a surgical tool raises questions about the future of healthcare and robotics.
This announcement marks a pivotal moment for Tesla, as the company seeks to redefine not only transportation but also healthcare access. The implications of a robot capable of performing surgeries could change the landscape of medicine as we know it.
Stay tuned for further updates as Tesla pushes the boundaries of technology and innovation.
