Conservative Analyst Warns Trump’s Approval Plunges, Risks GOP
URGENT UPDATE: A leading conservative voice has raised alarms over President Donald Trump‘s declining approval ratings, warning they could spell disaster for the Republican Party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. During a podcast interview on November 17, Bill Kristol, editor-at-large for The Bulwark, emphasized the potential “vulnerabilities” Trump is creating for the GOP.
Kristol revealed that Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 39%, down eight points since he took office in January. He cautioned that this decline, coupled with ongoing controversies such as Trump’s economic management and mounting pressure to disclose Jeffrey Epstein files, could lead to significant challenges for Republicans in upcoming elections.
“There’s some chunk of the Trump coalition that is looking around and questioning what’s happening,” Kristol stated on The Bulwark Podcast. He continued, “It’s all about him, and he’s not watching out for us.” Kristol highlighted that this sentiment could further alienate moderate Republicans, who are increasingly disillusioned with Trump’s approach.
As the Republican Party gears up for the midterms, Kristol’s comments resonate with urgency. He warned that if Trump’s approval rating dips to 38% or lower, it could spell trouble for GOP candidates across the nation. “The midterm election looks bad if these trends continue,” he concluded.
These developments come at a crucial time for the Republican Party as they strategize for the elections. With Trump’s controversies and approval ratings in flux, the implications for the GOP are immediate and potentially far-reaching.
As this story unfolds, many are left wondering how the Republican leadership will respond to these mounting pressures and what strategies they will employ to retain voter support. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
