Cole Rosina Shines with Two Goals in Bordentown’s 3-1 Victory

UPDATE: In a thrilling showdown on October 17, 2023, Bordentown emerged victorious against Westampton Tech with a final score of 3-1. Cole Rosina’s brilliant performance, scoring twice in the second half, propelled the Scotties to their 13th win of the season, solidifying their status as champions of the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL) Patriot Division.
The game kicked off at 4:00 PM in Bordentown, and both teams entered the match with high expectations. Despite a scoreless first half, Bordentown quickly found their rhythm after the break. Rosina opened the scoring in the 51st minute when he capitalized on a corner kick that deflected off Westampton Tech’s goalkeeper, Viggo Wronski. “I was just thinking ‘on frame.’ Everything. On frame,” Rosina stated, showcasing his focus and determination.
However, Westampton Tech responded just ten minutes later. Tristen Dickerson’s long throw-in set up Youssou Diop, who skillfully volleyed the ball into the net to equalize the score. But Bordentown was not deterred. With just over five minutes remaining, Rosina struck again, this time from a restart, giving the Scotties the edge once more. “It was more stakes. The clock was running down and we needed it,” Rosina explained.
Tyler Kunkel added to the score shortly after, netting his 13th goal of the season following a defensive mishap by Westampton Tech. Kunkel expressed confidence, saying, “I knew once we scored that first goal, they would keep coming. We’re a hard-working team. And once we get that motivation to keep going, it just keeps coming to us. Goal after goal.”
Despite the loss, Westampton Tech, champions of the BCSL Freedom Division, showed resilience. Coach Shane Lesher acknowledged their progress, noting, “We have a little bit more talent than in years past, and they’ve definitely bought into a system. They believe in themselves.” His team now stands at 13-4 for the season.
As Bordentown celebrates this decisive victory, they look ahead to future challenges, with confidence building after a strong performance against a formidable opponent. The Scotties’ impressive season continues, and fans are eager to see what comes next.
