CNY Diaper Bank Urgently Seeks Donations for Local Families

UPDATE: The CNY Diaper Bank has launched an urgent campaign this holiday season, calling on the community of Liverpool, N.Y., to provide essential support for local families facing economic hardship. Community members, businesses, and local groups are invited to contribute monetary donations to help supply diapers for those in need.

This initiative comes as nearly half of families with young children experience diaper need, highlighting a critical issue that demands immediate attention. The CNY Diaper Bank is encouraging donations that can be made securely online at cnydiaperbank.org/holidaymatch2025.

To maximize impact, all contributions made through January 1, 2026, will be matched up to $5,000, thanks to a grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation. Each dollar donated can provide a full day’s worth of diapers for a local baby, making every contribution vital.

“Diaper need is driven by a combination of low wages and rising costs, leaving parents to make impossible choices,” said Michela Hugo, Founder of the CNY Diaper Bank. “The CNY Diaper Bank exists to support families now while advocating for policies that ensure no parent ever has to choose between diapers and dinner.”

Diapers are a critical need for infants, yet they are not covered by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Women, Infants, and Children benefits. The cost of maintaining an adequate supply can reach $100 per month for a single child, making it an expense that many families struggle to afford.

With this campaign, the CNY Diaper Bank aims to alleviate some of the burdens on families this holiday season. “Community members can make a positive impact by donating to help us provide diapers and prevent diaper need,” Hugo added.

Currently, the CNY Diaper Bank stands as the largest diaper bank in New York State, distributing an average of 200,000 diapers to 4,000 local babies and toddlers every month. Since its inception in May 2016, the organization has successfully distributed over 11 million diapers to families in need.
