Chicago Bears’ Nahshon Wright’s Game-Changing Fumble Recovery
UPDATE: In a stunning turn of events, Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright made a pivotal play by stealing the ball from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts during the controversial Tush Push, leading to a crucial fumble recovery that helped secure a 24-15 victory on November 28, 2025, at Lincoln Financial Field.
Wright, a 6-foot-4 cornerback, wasn’t focused on the Tush Push prior to the matchup. “I didn’t look at it at all,” he admitted. However, when Hurts took the snap late in the third quarter, Wright spotted an opportunity as he moved in unblocked and snatched the ball from Hurts’ grasp, showcasing quick instincts and awareness.
“This was just instincts,” Wright stated, reflecting on his third fumble recovery of the season. His timely action marked a significant shift in momentum, as the Bears led by a slim 10-9 margin while the Eagles were poised to take control.
“It was a huge play,” said Bears safety Kevin Byard III, who witnessed the chaos unfold. “(Wright) has been making huge plays all year.” With the Eagles having only turned the ball over six times prior to this game, Wright’s takeaway was a rare and critical moment.
After the fumble, Bears offensive coordinator Ben Johnson capitalized on the momentum by calling five consecutive run plays, leading to a breakout performance from rookie back Kyle Monangai, who finished with a game-high 130 rushing yards. Monangai’s explosive 31-yard run following Wright’s recovery energized the team and set the stage for his eventual 4-yard touchdown run, extending the Bears’ lead.
The Bears’ defense, led by Wright and Byard, generated two turnovers against an Eagles team that was previously dominant in ball security. “That’s the reason why we’re the best in the league at taking the ball away,” Byard emphasized.
As the game progressed, Hurts and the Eagles struggled to regain their footing, punting on their next possession. Caleb Williams, the Bears’ quarterback, then delivered a decisive touchdown pass to tight end Cole Kmet, pushing the score to 24-9 and solidifying the Bears’ statement win.
This victory marks one of the Bears’ most significant achievements this season, showcasing their resilience against the defending Super Bowl champions. With both teams entering the game with 8-3 records, the Bears are now positioned as a formidable contender, potentially earning the No. 2 seed in the NFC if the playoffs were to start today.
“It was just the opportunity presented itself for me to get in there and I was able to get the ball out,” Wright said, reflecting on the game-changing moment. As the Bears continue to push their limits, they are undoubtedly capturing the attention of the league—and their fans—after this impressive performance.
With this victory, the Bears not only demonstrated their defensive prowess but also continued to build momentum as they aim for a strong playoff run. As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on how they capitalize on this thrilling win.
