Thitikul Shines at CME Championship, Secures $4M Prize

Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand delivered an impressive performance at the CME Group Tour Championship, securing a substantial cash prize of $4 million on November 19, 2023. Thitikul, who has had a remarkable year on the LPGA Tour, clinched her third win of the season with a commanding finish, posting a final round score of 4-under 68 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

Thitikul entered the tournament with a significant advantage, starting the final round with a six-shot lead over Nelly Korda, the American golfer she displaced at the top of the women’s world rankings this year. Despite an early challenge from fellow Thai player Pajaree Anannarukarn, who made five birdies in seven holes to cut the deficit to two shots, Thitikul maintained her composure.

Birdies on the 10th and 13th holes helped Thitikul restore a five-shot lead after Anannarukarn faltered on the par-3 12th hole. With her steady play, Thitikul secured her victory, finishing the tournament at an impressive 26-under 262—a four-shot margin over Anannarukarn.

This victory not only adds to her accolades but also positions Thitikul to receive two of the most prestigious awards in women’s golf: LPGA Player of the Year and the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. She now joins Jin Young Ko as the only players to win back-to-back CME Group Tour Championships.
