Dodgers Eye Brewers’ Freddy Peralta in Potential Trade Deal
The Milwaukee Brewers are facing a pivotal decision regarding their ace pitcher, Freddy Peralta, as he enters the final season of his contract. This situation places him on the trade block, following a pattern established by the Brewers with players such as Corbin Burnes in previous seasons. With numerous teams likely interested, Peralta’s future is a hot topic of discussion among baseball analysts.
Recently, Kerry Miller from Bleacher Report proposed a significant trade scenario that would see Peralta joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. In this blockbuster deal, the Dodgers would send outfielder Mike Sirota, pitcher Adam Serwinowski, and infielder Alex Freeland to Milwaukee in exchange for Peralta. Miller notes that while the Dodgers are a strong team, they are not viewed favorably by the Brewers, making a deal complicated.
“If there’s one team that the Brewers are probably even less inclined to help out than the Chicago Cubs, it’s the Los Angeles Dodgers,” Miller wrote. He emphasized the historical rivalry and recent playoff outcomes, particularly referencing the Dodgers’ sweep of the Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS) just a month ago.
In considering this trade, Miller suggests that the Dodgers would have to pay a steep price, possibly including two top-60 prospects and a left-handed pitcher known for his strikeout ability. He speculates that if the Dodgers were to balk at the asking price, Brewers General Manager Matt Arnold might simply suggest they seek alternatives.
The potential addition of Peralta would significantly enhance the Dodgers’ already formidable pitching rotation. Imagining a 2026 rotation featuring Peralta alongside stars such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, and Tyler Glasnow presents a tantalizing prospect for Dave Roberts, the Dodgers’ manager.
As the best team in the league, the Dodgers have consistently pursued additional talent to bolster their roster. To satisfy the Brewers, they might consider including a ready-for-the-big-leagues pitcher in any trade for Peralta. Bobby Miller has been mentioned as a candidate who could benefit from a change of scenery, offering the Brewers a chance to rejuvenate his career.
While discussions around this potential trade are still in the early stages, the interest in Freddy Peralta continues to grow. The Brewers’ decisions this offseason will be critical, not only for their own future but also for shaping the competitive landscape of Major League Baseball.
