Ciattarelli and Sherrill Make Final Push Ahead of New Jersey Election
With just days remaining until Election Day on March 5, 2024, candidates for governor of New Jersey, Jack Ciattarelli of the Republican Party and Mikie Sherrill of the Democratic Party, are intensifying their efforts to reach undecided voters. Both candidates are traversing the state, making final appeals to constituents in what is shaping up to be a closely contested race.
Jack Ciattarelli has embarked on a bus tour across New Jersey, engaging with supporters at various campaign stops. His rallies have drawn enthusiastic crowds, particularly in places like Woodbridge, where he was met with cheers and excitement. During his stops, Ciattarelli emphasized key issues he believes resonate with voters, including the state’s affordability crisis, public safety, and education reform.
“Hey, if you want change, you’ve got to make a change. There’s a lot that’s wrong in New Jersey,” Ciattarelli stated. He criticized current policies, citing high taxes and rising electricity bills as significant concerns for residents. He also highlighted a perceived decline in public safety due to constraints on local law enforcement.
On Saturday alone, Ciattarelli held six rallies, including one at an American Legion hall in Westfield. He expressed hope that his candidacy could benefit fellow Republicans, aiming for gains in the state Assembly. “We can’t win the Senate this year, but we can win the Assembly. That would bring better balance to Trenton, and I think that’s good for the people of New Jersey,” he told CBS News.
Sherrill Rallies Support with Obama
In parallel, Mikie Sherrill hosted a “Get Out the Vote” rally in Newark, featuring former President Barack Obama as a key speaker. Sherrill’s strategy focuses on contrasting her policies with those of her Republican opponent, particularly regarding health care. She aims to remind voters of the ongoing debates surrounding the Affordable Care Act.
“I think the sharp disparity between President Obama, who worked to expand health care coverage, and President Trump, who is taking away health care from millions, is stark,” Sherrill noted during the rally. Her campaign is centered around mobilizing supporters and emphasizing the importance of voting in the upcoming election.
As the clock ticks down, both candidates are making significant efforts to secure votes in a race that polls indicate is exceedingly tight. With the stakes high, the final days of campaigning will likely play a critical role in determining the outcome of New Jersey’s gubernatorial election.
