Ciara, the renowned singer and mother of four, recently shared her concerns about parenting in today’s rapidly changing world. During an appearance on the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast, she emphasized her greatest fear: where her children receive their information. With access to vast amounts of data at their fingertips, Ciara believes parents need to be more engaged than ever.

In her discussion, Ciara, 40, described herself as a “partial” helicopter mom, expressing a desire to remain actively involved in her children’s lives. “This world is like bananas, and so I think you’ve got to be locked in even more now because the access is so high,” she remarked. Her commitment to staying connected helps her understand the challenges her children face as they grow.

Ciara shares a son with her ex-partner, rapper Future, and has two daughters and another son with her husband, Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the New York Giants. During the podcast, she reflected on her childhood and the importance of creating a safe space for her kids to express themselves. “I want them to feel comfortable with me, but I also want to make sure I’m thinking about what I could have done better to serve them better,” she stated.

The singer noted that as her children grow older and interact with peers at school, they are exposed to a range of ideas and information, some of which may not be accurate. “I feel really proud sometimes when you beat the world to telling your kids something,” she said. These moments of open dialogue empower her children, allowing them to navigate the world with confidence.

In a previous interview with Parents magazine, Ciara expressed her desire for her daughters to recognize their self-worth, regardless of societal expectations related to gender or race. “I want my girls to know that they’re not limited by their gender or the color of their skin,” she explained.

When speaking to Vogue in August, she revealed that motherhood has profoundly influenced her career perspective. “When I first began, I’m in an industry where it was taboo to have a child. The moment you had a child, you were automatically labeled as older or not focused,” she said. For Ciara, balancing motherhood and her career journey has become one of the most rewarding experiences of her life.

As she navigates both her professional ambitions and the complexities of parenting in a digital age, Ciara remains committed to fostering meaningful connections with her children. Her insights serve as a reminder of the challenges modern parents face and the importance of staying informed and engaged in their children’s lives.
