Tusculum University to Host Uplifting Night of Worship on October 30

Greeneville’s Tusculum University will host a vibrant Night of Worship on October 30, 2023, featuring local gospel artists. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Marilyn duBrisk Theatre, located within the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Center. Attendees can look forward to performances by Madison Metcalf-Shelton, a versatile gospel musician, and the bluegrass gospel band Threads of Faith.
The Night of Worship aims to support the university’s newly established Christian Leadership Institute, which focuses on cultivating Christ-centered leaders and enhancing faith within both the campus and the surrounding community. This gathering coincides with Tusculum’s weeklong Homecoming celebration, making it a significant occasion for students and local residents alike.
“The performances by these talented artists will enrich lives and glorify God,” said Rev. E.J. Swatsell, director of spiritual life and special projects at Tusculum. “We are fortunate to have such talent in our area, and their inspiring music will help those in attendance grow closer to God, reinforcing the presence of the Lord on our campus.”
Madison Metcalf-Shelton, who is both a singer and guitarist, has previously performed at Tusculum’s Old Oak Festival and other venues. Her latest album, “Right to Jesus,” was released in 2023. Meanwhile, Threads of Faith has been captivating audiences since 2016, creating original songs after forming at their East Tennessee church.
Christian Leadership Institute Initiatives
The Christian Leadership Institute serves as the umbrella for multiple faith-based initiatives at Tusculum. In its initial phase, the university hosted the Christians in Business Dinner in May, honoring the late Chuck Bowlin with the inaugural Christian Leadership Award.
Another significant aspect of the institute is the Discipleship Living-Learning Center, which features two residences—one for male and one for female students. The male residence is named The Bowlin House. This center fosters a Christ-centered environment, enabling first- and second-year students to engage in Bible studies, mentorship, and community service. Older students reside in the houses as peer mentors, facilitating weekly discipleship sessions and assisting with spiritual resources.
Students participating in this program receive a $2,000 annual scholarship to help with their educational expenses. Looking ahead, Tusculum plans to host the Pioneer Discipleship Weekend in January, a retreat designed to help high school students deepen their faith and understand the meaning of living as disciples.
Event Details and Ticket Information
Tickets for the Night of Worship are priced at $10 and can be purchased online via credit or debit card at https://site.tusculum.edu/homecoming-2/. Cash tickets will also be available at the door, subject to availability.
This event promises to be a significant occasion for the community, aiming to uplift and inspire through music and faith. As Tusculum University continues to enhance its Christian initiatives, the Night of Worship stands out as a beacon of local talent and spiritual growth.
