The festive spirit of Christmas will come alive in Madison County on December 6, 2023, as the highly anticipated event, Miracles on Main Street, celebrates its 10th anniversary. This year’s festivities will include a vibrant parade, vendor booths, and dazzling lights in Azalea Park, showcasing a grand finale led by none other than Santa Claus.

Details of the Parade and Activities

The parade is scheduled to begin at 18:00 from Rockwall Park, located near the town pool. Participants will travel up South Main, loop around the courthouse, continue down West Main, and return via Park Street to Rockwall. According to Sarakas, a key organizer of the event, “We are expecting a bigger parade than ever before. We have a large list of participants already, and more coming in every day. We are expecting some very detailed floats this year.”

Floats that wish to be judged must arrive at their designated spots by 17:00, while non-judged floats should be in place by 17:40. Notably, no float may feature Santa, as he will be the star of the grand finale, described as “the perfect caboose sending warm wishes of Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.”

Before the parade, children can take pictures with Santa from 15:00 to 17:00, with parents encouraged to capture their own memories at no cost. In addition to Santa, various beloved characters, including Disney princesses, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and The Grinch, will be available for photo opportunities.

Family-Friendly Activities Await

Miracles on Main Street will also feature a range of family-friendly activities. Attendees can enjoy Polar Express rides, a petting zoo, and crafting opportunities such as stocking and ornament decorating. Other engaging events include a scavenger hunt, an ugly sweater contest, and contests for marshmallow eating and cookie decorating.

The event’s organizers invite the community to participate actively by dressing up as characters, illuminating Azalea Park with winter holiday-themed displays, and joining in the parade. Local businesses are encouraged to contribute to the festive atmosphere by setting up displays by December 5 and removing them by January 10.

As the countdown to Christmas begins, Miracles on Main Street promises to be a memorable celebration for families in Madison County, blending community spirit with holiday cheer. Visitors can expect a night filled with joy, laughter, and the enchanting magic of the season.
