JoJo Siwa Hospitalized for Severe Pain Before Major Performance
JoJo Siwa experienced a health scare that resulted in her hospitalization due to “excruciating pain” caused by a burst ovarian cyst. The incident occurred just hours before she was set to perform at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, on November 28, 2023.
In a candid update shared on TikTok, the 22-year-old performer detailed her ordeal, explaining that she had been experiencing severe stomach pain for several days. Initially, Siwa attributed the discomfort to menstrual cramps, but the situation escalated dramatically before her scheduled appearance.
“I was trying to take a nap before the show, hoping to sleep off the pain,” Siwa recounted. “But it got worse. I even tried sitting in the bathtub to relax, but that just intensified the pain.” She felt she would black out and knew she needed medical assistance.
After informing her mother, Jessalynn Siwa, about her condition, they decided to seek help. Emergency responders initially struggled to identify the issue because her vital signs appeared normal. Eventually, doctors at a local hospital diagnosed a burst cyst on one of her ovaries, which was bleeding into her abdomen. “That’s what was causing the excruciating pain,” Siwa explained. “Every time the blood moves in your stomach, that’s the bleeding.”
Fortunately, the medical staff managed to treat Siwa quickly, allowing her to leave the hospital within two hours. She expressed gratitude for their swift care and her intention to continue with her performance of her new festive single, “Message to the World.”
“I’m afraid how this dance is gonna affect me, but we’re going to do it,” Siwa stated. She acknowledged the possibility of needing to return to the hospital if her symptoms worsened but remained optimistic about her performance.
While Siwa confirmed she was feeling somewhat better, she admitted she was not yet at “100 percent.” She plans to have the cyst re-evaluated the following week. This health scare comes shortly after a significant milestone in her personal life; Siwa and her boyfriend, Chris Hughes, made their red carpet debut at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala on October 21, 2023.
At the gala, Hughes, a star from Love Island U.K., presented Siwa with the Humanitarian Award for her advocacy work related to cancer charities. Siwa expressed her deep appreciation for the recognition and for Hughes’ support during her recent health challenges.
The outpouring of concern from fans highlights Siwa’s strong connection with her audience, as they eagerly await updates on both her health and her upcoming performances.
