Tomi Lahren Criticizes Grammys, Sparks Online Backlash
Tomi Lahren, a prominent conservative commentator, has ignited controversy online after criticizing the Grammy Awards, labeling the event as “social justice warrior grandstanding bulls—.” In a series of posts on social media, she accused musicians of disrespecting law enforcement and claimed that they were attacking the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her comments followed a moment during the ceremony when television personality Sharon Osbourne was visibly emotional on the red carpet alongside musician Yungblud.
Lahren expressed her discontent with the awards show, asserting that “hardworking men and women of ICE and border patrol”—many of whom are Hispanic—are out in the field maintaining public safety. She criticized the entertainment industry for what she perceives as a lack of respect for those enforcing immigration laws. Her remarks came as she declared the Grammy Awards “trash,” attributing the show’s declining viewership to its political overtones.
The backlash was swift, with several users on the platform X responding to her posts. Comments included direct jabs at her engagement with the show, with one user stating, “You seem to be watching it,” and another humorously noting, “It sounds like you’re watching lol.” Lahren’s comments about the Grammys coincided with a warning from former President Donald Trump, who stated on Truth Social that the federal government would not assist “poorly run Democrat Cities” during unrest unless a formal request for help is made.
In his statement, Trump emphasized that ICE and Border Patrol agents had been instructed to be “very forceful” in protecting federal property during protests. He further noted, “There will be no spitting in the faces of our Officers… no rock or brick throwing at our vehicles, or at our Patriot Warriors. If there is, those people will suffer an equal or more consequence.”
Trump’s remarks referenced the unrest from the 2025 Los Angeles riots, where federal involvement reportedly played a role in restoring order. He indicated that future deployments of federal resources would be executed in a “very easy and methodical” manner. Additionally, he advised local officials to utilize the word “PLEASE” when seeking assistance from federal agencies.
As the Grammy Awards continue to attract both praise and criticism, Lahren’s remarks highlight the ongoing cultural divide surrounding issues of law enforcement and political expression within the entertainment industry. The Grammy ceremony, known for its celebration of musical talent, has increasingly become a platform for artists to voice their perspectives on social issues, a trend that some, like Lahren, find contentious.
The interaction between Lahren and her critics reveals the heightened tensions surrounding public discussions about immigration, law enforcement, and the role of celebrities in political discourse. As the conversation evolves, it remains to be seen how it will influence future Grammy ceremonies and the broader cultural landscape.
