MrBeast Reacts to ‘SNL’ Parody: “My Phone Blew Up”
The popular YouTube personality known as MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has responded to a recent parody of his persona featured on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The sketch, titled “Beauty & Mr. Beast,” aired on the evening of March 9, 2024, and humorously reimagined elements of the classic Disney film alongside Donaldson’s controversial gaming style. Following the broadcast, Donaldson expressed his surprise and amusement at the attention the parody garnered.
“I didn’t know they were gonna talk about me, but the second it aired my phone blew up haha,” Donaldson told Dexerto. He added, “Thought it was funny.” The SNL sketch features cast member Ben Marshall as a humorous version of Mr. Beast, who engages in absurd challenges reminiscent of his own viral content.
In the sketch, Marshall’s character states, “I’m keeping her dad trapped in a dungeon for 30 days for a chance to win over $300,000.” He continues with a twist, promising, “For every pound he loses, I’ll give a Tesla to a random stranger.” The comedic tone escalates as Marshall’s Mr. Beast promises to marry Nikki Glaser‘s character Belle if she can endure 30 days in a smart car with two greased-up sumo wrestlers. Glaser’s Belle, confirming her wealth, responds, “Ok, I will marry you, Belle… if you can live for 30 days in a smart car with these two greased up sumo wrestlers.”
This parody follows the recent renewal of Donaldson’s reality competition series, Beast Games, for two additional seasons by Prime Video. The show has gained popularity, particularly after being inspired by his viral video titled $456,000 Squid Game in Real Life! The program boasts the largest cash prize in reality TV history, offering a staggering $5 million pot.
As Disney continues to produce live-action adaptations of its animation classics, the SNL sketch reflects a cultural shift, merging traditional storytelling with modern digital influences. The humorous take on Mr. Beast serves not only to entertain but also to highlight the impact of digital creators on contemporary media.
Donaldson’s response and the sketch’s reception demonstrate the intersection of traditional television and digital content creation, showcasing how figures like MrBeast are becoming ingrained in mainstream entertainment. As his profile continues to rise, Donaldson’s influence in the entertainment realm appears set to grow, especially as he engages with various platforms and formats.
