Dancers Bring Holiday Cheer with ‘Nutcracker’ Story Time in Townsend
The holiday season in Townsend, Massachusetts, will be marked by a special event at the Townsend Public Library. On November 25, 2023, at 18:00, the library will host a “Nutcracker Ballet Story Time,” featuring dancers from the North Central Youth Ballet (NCYB). This enchanting experience will showcase select routines from their upcoming full production of The Nutcracker, captivating audiences of all ages with festive performances.
Magical Experience for Families
As the dancers take the stage in their vibrant costumes, a narrator will bring the classic tale of The Nutcracker to life. This combination of dance and storytelling aims to create a magical atmosphere, perfect for children and families looking to embrace the holiday spirit. The event will be held at the library, located at 12 Dudley Road, and promises to be a delightful introduction to the seasonal festivities.
The North Central Youth Ballet, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to offering young dancers professional ballet experiences. The company brings together talent from various studios, fostering collaboration and artistic expression through community performances. Co-founders and directors Karen Brown and Megan Simisky have extensive backgrounds in ballet and share a passion for nurturing the artistic growth of their students.
Upcoming Performances of ‘The Nutcracker’
Following the story time, the NCYB will present full performances of The Nutcracker on December 5, 2023, at 18:00, and on December 6, 2023, at both 12:00 and 18:00. These performances will take place at the North Middlesex Regional High School, located at 19 Main Street. Tickets for these shows are available for purchase on the NCYB website.
“When you watch ballet in person, it creates excitement, inspires true joy, and makes you feel like you participated just by seeing,” said Megan Simisky, co-founder and director of NCYB. “That feeling, the holiday anticipation, and the combination of all our amazing community participation help make this production the best way to kick-off your season!”
For those interested in attending the story time or obtaining tickets for the performances, further details can be found on the respective websites: the Townsend Public Library at www.townsendlibrary.org and the North Central Youth Ballet at www.northcentralyouthballet.com. This holiday season, the NCYB invites everyone to join in the celebration of dance and storytelling in a festive atmosphere.
