Stolen Truck with 500 Thanksgiving Turkeys Disrupts Charity Event
Over 500 frozen turkeys intended for a Thanksgiving giveaway were stolen in Lake Elsinore, California. The truck containing the turkeys was reported stolen from the 31000 block of Auto Center Drive just before 08:00 on November 22, 2023, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities have yet to locate the stolen vehicle.
The turkeys were part of an annual distribution organized by the U.R. Important Foundation, a nonprofit based in Lake Elsinore that focuses on providing food to the local community. Members of the foundation were in the process of sorting food for their Thanksgiving giveaway when the truck was taken, as reported by CBSLA.
Community Impact and Support
Despite the theft, the U.R. Important Foundation remains hopeful. An anonymous donor has stepped in to assist, enabling the organization to continue its mission of feeding around 200 individuals in need this Thanksgiving. This gesture underscores the community’s resilience and generosity in challenging times.
The Thanksgiving turkey giveaway is a significant yearly event for the foundation, which relies on donations and community support to serve local families. The loss of the turkeys represents a setback, but the foundation’s commitment to helping those in need remains unwavering.
As the investigation continues, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information regarding the stolen truck to come forward. Community members are rallying to support the foundation and ensure that the Thanksgiving event can proceed as planned.
The U.R. Important Foundation has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community and is actively working to replace the lost turkeys. They are determined to fulfill their mission of providing a warm Thanksgiving meal to those who might otherwise go without.
