Memphis Grizzlies Sign Kobe Bufkin Amid Injury Crisis
BREAKING NEWS: The Memphis Grizzlies are set to sign guard Kobe Bufkin under a 10-day hardship exception, sources confirm to ESPN. This urgent move comes as the Grizzlies face a significant injury crisis, with key players including Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke, and Ty Jerome sidelined for weeks. Additionally, Jaren Jackson Jr. is recovering from an ankle sprain.
The Grizzlies have managed to improve to 6-11 after securing their second consecutive victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. Bufkin is expected to make his debut on Monday during their home game against the Denver Nuggets.
Bufkin, the No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has been called up from the Los Angeles Lakers’ South Bay G League team, where he showcased impressive stats averaging 22 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5 assists over two games this season. Previously, he played two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, who waived him after training camp.
This signing is crucial for the Grizzlies as they navigate a tough schedule with numerous injuries impacting their roster. Fans are eager to see how Bufkin will fit into the team and contribute to their efforts in climbing the standings.
As the Grizzlies prepare for the upcoming matchup against the Nuggets, all eyes will be on Bufkin to see if he can bring a much-needed spark to the squad. Stay tuned for updates on his performance and any further developments regarding the team’s injury status.
