5 Seconds of Summer’s ‘Everyone’s a Star’ Tops U.K. Albums Chart
Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer has achieved a significant milestone, reaching the top of the U.K. Albums Chart with their latest release, Everyone’s a Star. This marks the fourth time the group has held the No. 1 position in their career, with the charts dated November 21, 2023, indicating their album has dethroned Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl.
The band, consisting of members Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings, and Michael Clifford, previously topped the chart with albums including Sounds Good Feels Good (2015), CALM (2020), and 5SOS5 (2022). Everyone’s a Star also secured the No. 1 spot on the Official Record Store Chart, which tracks the most popular albums in U.K. independent record shops.
In their home country of Australia, 5 Seconds of Summer made history by becoming the first act to debut at No. 1 with each of their first six studio albums on the ARIA Charts. This remarkable achievement showcases the band’s enduring popularity and ability to connect with audiences.
Following 5 Seconds of Summer on the U.K. Albums Chart is Olivia Dean, whose album The Art of Loving has climbed to No. 2 after a standout performance on Saturday Night Live on November 15. Her dynamic presentation of the tracks “Man I Need” and “So Easy (to Fall in Love With Me)” has further solidified her presence in the music industry.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl drops two places to No. 3. The album has already enjoyed four non-consecutive weeks at the top of the U.K. Albums Chart, highlighting its widespread acclaim and popularity.
Also noteworthy, the U.K. rap duo D-Block Europe has achieved their fifth top five album in six years with their latest release, PTSD 2, which now sits at No. 4. The duo, comprising Young Adz and Dirtbike LB, has consistently made waves in the music scene with previous successes including PTSD (2019) and Rolling Stone (2024), which reached No. 1.
Completing the top five is Sabrina Carpenter with her album Man’s Best Friend, which lands at No. 5. The chart also welcomes notable debuts, including a reissue of Oasis‘s live LP Familiar To Millions at No. 11, Celeste‘s sophomore album Woman Of Faces at No. 12, and Summer Walker‘s Finally Over It at No. 13.
As excitement continues to build around EsDeeKid, a Liverpool rapper whose identity has sparked fan theories linking him to actor Timothée Chalamet, his track Rebel has risen three places to No. 16, adding to the intrigue surrounding his emerging career.
The latest U.K. Albums Chart highlights the dynamic and competitive nature of the music industry, showcasing a diverse array of talent and the ongoing evolution of musical tastes among listeners.
