Aaron Gordon Out 4-6 Weeks with Hamstring Injury
UPDATE: Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is set to miss 4-6 weeks due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, as confirmed by sources to ESPN. The injury occurred during the Nuggets’ road victory against the Houston Rockets on Friday, and an MRI conducted on Saturday revealed the extent of the damage.
This injury is a significant blow to the Nuggets, already grappling with another key player sidelined. Christian Braun will be out for at least six weeks following an ankle sprain he suffered on November 12. Gordon’s absence marks a critical moment for the Nuggets as they seek to maintain their position in the highly competitive Western Conference.
Gordon was in excellent form this season, averaging a career-high 18.8 points and a remarkable 44.4% from beyond the arc. He made headlines with a career-best 50 points on opening night against the Golden State Warriors, becoming only the sixth player to achieve such a feat in an NBA opener. His ability to score efficiently placed him among an elite group of players averaging 15 points while shooting 50-40-85.
Earlier this season, Gordon had been managing bilateral hamstring issues, which raises concerns about his long-term health. Notably, he played through a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during last season’s Western Conference semifinals, reflecting his resilience under pressure.
As the Nuggets adjust to these setbacks, they will rely heavily on their offseason acquisitions and develop their bench depth. Peyton Watson, a fourth-year forward, is expected to step up alongside new additions, including Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas.
Currently, the Nuggets hold a record of 12-4 and are positioned second in the Western Conference, trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder, who lead with a stunning 16-1 record.
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as the Nuggets navigate these injuries and adapt their strategy. With Gordon’s expected return still weeks away, the team faces an uphill battle to maintain their momentum in the league.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
