Urgent Arrest in Putnam County High School Burglary Case
UPDATE: A 19-year-old teenager, identified as Kristjan V. Holmbo of Cold Spring, NY, has been arrested in connection with a burglary at Haldane School that occurred on November 4, 2025. This alarming incident involved the unlawful entry into the school and the theft of prescription medications from the nurse’s office.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation into the burglary, which took place earlier this month, has now led to Holmbo’s arrest following a search warrant executed at his residence on November 13, 2025. Holmbo faces multiple charges, including Burglary in the Third Degree (Class D Felony) and Pretit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor), highlighting the severity of this crime.
Local authorities have been tirelessly working on this case, collaborating with School Resource Officers to ensure the safety of students. Sheriff Brian Hess expressed gratitude to the school officials for their assistance in the investigation, stating, “Their cooperation has been invaluable in bringing this case to resolution.”
In a shocking twist, Holmbo has also been linked to a previous incident that occurred on June 18, 2025, where he attempted to burglarize a local pharmacy. Evidence collected during the investigation, including items found at his home, connected him to both crimes. Consequently, he is also facing felony charges of Attempted Burglary in the Third Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree for the pharmacy incident.
This troubling series of events raises concerns about safety in the community and the potential for further criminal activity. Parents and residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
As the investigation continues, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is expected to provide further updates. This arrest underscores the critical role of law enforcement and community cooperation in addressing crime effectively. Stay tuned for more developments as this story unfolds.
