Baldur’s Gate 3 Earns Third Nomination for Best Community Support
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated for the Best Community Support award at The Game Awards for the third consecutive year. Developers at Larian Studios expressed their surprise and gratitude following the announcement. The official Baldur’s Gate 3 social media account thanked players for their loyalty and enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a complete honour to have been nominated for Best Community Support again this year.” This acknowledgment reflects the strong connection between the game and its community.
The game officially launched on PC in August 2023 and quickly garnered acclaim, winning the prestigious Game of the Year award at the 2023 Game Awards. It also secured victories in several other categories, including Best Performance for Neil Newbon as Astarion, Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, Player’s Voice, and Best Community Support. In the following year, Baldur’s Gate 3 was again nominated for Best Community Support, ultimately winning the accolade.
This year, the competition includes notable titles such as Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, Helldivers 2, and No Man’s Sky. While the field may be challenging, Baldur’s Gate 3’s prior success against these games suggests it could repeat its triumph.
Larian Studios released the final content update for Baldur’s Gate 3 in April 2024, which introduced significant enhancements like cross-play and a photo mode, along with twelve new subclasses. Although Larian confirmed that Patch #8 would mark the end of major new content for the game, the studio remains committed to ongoing support. Regular bug fixes and quality-of-life updates continue to be rolled out, with the latest update, Hotfix #34, arriving in September 2023. This hotfix included a native version of the game for Steam Deck users.
With the nominees now announced, players can cast their votes on The Game Awards website. Larian Studios has demonstrated its dedication to the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, creating an environment where player feedback is valued and acted upon. As the anticipation builds for the awards ceremony, the excitement around Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to resonate within the gaming community.
