Analyst Calls Trump’s Attacks on Rep. Massie’s Late Wife “Repulsive”
BREAKING: An analyst has condemned former President Donald Trump‘s recent attack on Rep. Thomas Massie‘s late wife as “repulsive” and “grotesque.” This urgent statement comes just days after Trump’s controversial remarks targeting Massie’s late spouse, stirring significant backlash.
On November 14, 2023, Trump took to Truth Social to criticize Massie following his remarriage after his first wife tragically passed away in June 2024. In a scathing post, Trump quipped, “Boy, that was quick,” referencing the timeline of the new marriage, which occurred approximately 16 months after her death. He further added, “His wife will soon find out that she’s stuck with a LOSER!” provoking outrage across social media.
During a new episode of “The Bulwark Takes” podcast, analysts Sam Stein and Jack Cocchiarella addressed Trump’s remarks, calling them deeply offensive. Stein expressed his disbelief, stating, “Honestly, like it’s just a horrible thing to do and say.” He emphasized the emotional weight of Massie’s loss, noting he was married for 30 years before his wife’s passing and has every right to remarry.
Stein further highlighted that even among Trump’s traditional supporters, many found these comments disturbing. “Actual MAGAs online found this repulsive,” he remarked, reflecting on the widespread condemnation of Trump’s comments over the weekend. The analyst underscored the larger implications of Trump’s behavior, stating, “A lot of people found this viscerally grotesque and rightfully so. You don’t go after a dude who tragically lost his wife.”
As the fallout continues, this incident raises questions about the tone of political discourse and the boundaries of personal attacks in the public arena. Observers are keenly watching how this controversy will unfold and whether it will impact Trump’s standing within the GOP.
