Mavericks’ Anthony Davis Out Another 7-10 Days Due to Injury
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks have confirmed that power forward/center Anthony Davis will be sidelined for at least another 7-10 days as he recovers from a left calf strain. This announcement comes just hours before the Mavericks face the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, marking his ninth consecutive game missed.
The timeline for Davis’ recovery was established following a re-evaluation over the weekend. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd expressed the team’s desire for Davis to return soon, stating, “He wants to be out there to help us. But this gives him seven to 10 days to get better or to get stronger. Hopefully, in seven to 10 days, he’s back on the floor.”
Davis had initially aimed for a return on November 8 against the Washington Wizards, the only game the Mavericks have won this month. However, that plan was altered after discussions with Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont, who emphasized the need for comprehensive medical metrics before allowing Davis to return.
“He will not play until there is no risk of aggravating the calf strain or suffering a related injury,” a source close to the situation revealed.
Davis’ situation is particularly urgent due to the risk of a severe injury, similar to what Tyrese Haliburton experienced during the NBA Finals. The Mavericks are opting for a cautious approach, prioritizing long-term health over a quick return.
Since being acquired in the controversial trade involving Luka Doncic, Davis has participated in only 14 games and a few play-in matchups. His recent history of injuries has raised concerns among fans and management alike, particularly following his rushed return after a previous abdominal injury led to an adductor strain that kept him out for six weeks.
The Mavericks are feeling the pressure as they navigate a challenging season, with general manager Nico Harrison recently fired amid growing scrutiny. With Davis’ absence, the team must rally to secure victories as they continue to seek consistency.
Looking ahead, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the Mavericks can maintain their performance without Davis and how soon he can return to help stabilize the team’s trajectory.
Stay tuned for updates on Davis’ recovery and the Mavericks’ performance in his absence.
