Flight Cancellations Surge, Disrupting U.S. Travel for Third Day
UPDATE: U.S. travel faces severe disruptions for the third consecutive day as over 2,200 flights were canceled and more than 7,500 flights delayed nationwide on Sunday. Travelers at Fresno Yosemite Airport report no significant delays, but local travel agents are on high alert as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.
Travelers are urged to prepare for ongoing cancellations and delays as millions are expected to take to the skies. Cathyrn Doty, a travel planner with Not Your Evil Stepmother’s Vacation Planner, emphasizes the urgency of monitoring flight cancellations: “I am monitoring the cancellations every morning because I have clients traveling and need to ensure I’m ready for any changes,” she stated.
As holiday travel peaks, AAA predicts that Tuesday and Wednesday, along with the following Sunday of Thanksgiving week, will see the highest volume of travelers. Doug Johnson, a spokesperson for AAA, confirmed the heightened travel expectations, urging passengers to maintain flexibility in their travel plans.
The ongoing government shutdown exacerbates the situation, as travelers face potential further disruptions. Experts recommend staying informed and being adaptable to sudden flight changes.
