SpaceX Launches 29 Satellites, Ties Space Coast Record at 3:10 AM
BREAKING: SpaceX has successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 29 satellites at 3:10 AM today, tying the Space Coast’s annual orbital launch record. The mission, designated Starlink 10-51, lifted off from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39-A after a one-day delay due to bad weather.
This launch marks the 28th flight of the Falcon 9 first stage booster, which made a successful recovery landing on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. The previous launch attempt on Saturday was scrubbed just under a minute before liftoff, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of space missions.
With this launch, SpaceX has now conducted 88 of the 93 launches in 2025, tying the record set in 2024. The company continues to dominate the orbital launch market, with only four launches completed by United Launch Alliance and one by Blue Origin.
Blue Origin is set to make headlines this afternoon with its own launch attempt. The New Glenn rocket is targeting a window from 2:45 PM to 4:13 PM today, which, if successful, could establish a new record for launches on the Space Coast.
As the space race heats up, combined efforts from SpaceX, ULA, and Blue Origin could push the total number of US launches past 100 by year-end. This surge in activity underscores the rapid advancements in space technology and the increasing reliance on satellite networks for global communication.
As SpaceX continues to lead the charge in space exploration, today’s successful mission not only highlights the company’s capabilities but also reflects the growing importance of satellite technology in our daily lives.
Stay tuned for updates on Blue Origin’s anticipated launch later today, which could mark another significant milestone in space history.
