High School Volleyball Championships: Key Results from City and Southern Sections

The recent high school volleyball championships showcased electrifying matches across various divisions, culminating in decisive victories for several teams. Notably, in the City Section finals held at Southwest College, the Open Division #2 saw Palisades High School triumph over the top-seeded Venice High School with a score of 25-23, 25-18, 25-18. This victory marked a significant achievement for Palisades as they advanced in the tournament.

In the same City Section finals, Legacy High School defeated the eleventh-seeded Sotomayor High School in Division V with a commanding performance, winning 25-20, 25-18, and 25-12. Moving to Birmingham High on Saturday, the results continued to surprise as South East High School, seeded seventh, overcame the top-seeded Marquez High School in Division IV, though exact score details from that match were not disclosed.

The action intensified in Division III, where the first-seeded Panorama High School faced off against the second-seeded Sun Valley Poly High School. Panorama edged out a close victory, winning 25-23, 19-25, 25-14, and 29-27. In Division II, Mendez High School prepared to challenge top-seeded East Valley High School, while in Division I, the top team, LA University High School, secured a solid win against the third-seeded Granada Hills Kennedy, finishing with scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-23.

The Southern Section finals held at Ventura High on Thursday also delivered exciting outcomes. In Division IV, La Canada High School emerged victorious against Ventura with scores of 25-15, 25-22, 17-25, 13-25, and 15-8. The matches continued on Saturday at Cerritos College, where Sierra Canyon High School claimed victory over Mater Dei High School, winning 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, and 25-21.

In Division II, Santa Margarita High School faced West Ranch High School and emerged victorious after a tightly contested match that ended with scores of 26-28, 25-21, 25-23, 13-25, and 15-11. Division III saw Cypress High School defeat Santa Ana Foothill High School convincingly, with a scoreline of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-15.

Further matches included Ontario Christian High School overcoming Chadwick High School in Division V, winning 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-20. In Division VI, Wiseburn Da Vinci High School triumphed over Arrowhead Christian High School with scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-19.

The day concluded with Cate High School defeating West Valley High School in Division VII, and Artesia High School securing a win against Schurr High School in Division VIII. In Division IX, South El Monte High School edged out Nogales High School with a close 3-2 victory, while Moreno Valley High School defeated Anaheim High School by a score of 3-1.

These championship matches highlight the competitive spirit and talent present in high school volleyball, setting the stage for exciting future contests as teams strive for further success.
