Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame Inducts Five on Nov. 14, 2025
URGENT UPDATE: The Pope John Paul II High School Legacy of Impact Hall of Fame is set to honor five distinguished individuals on November 14, 2025, during a ceremony at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. This event promises to be a heartfelt tribute to those who have profoundly influenced the community through sports and service.
Among the inductees is Jim Shaffer, a renowned coach at Archbishop Kennedy High School. Shaffer, who is celebrated for mentoring young athletes, led his boys’ basketball team to impressive titles, including a Bicentennial League championship. His efforts in establishing the AMBUCS Stars Special Olympics basketball team in 1988 reflect his commitment beyond the court, demonstrating a legacy of integrity and compassion.
Joining Shaffer is the 1976 Bishop Kenrick High School basketball team, famous for their Cinderella story as they shocked the basketball world by winning the Philadelphia Catholic League championship against all odds. Their triumph is a testament to teamwork, determination, and the spirit of underdogs, inspiring generations of fans and players alike.
Charles “Mr. Mac” McPherson, another inductee, is revered for his extensive contributions to youth sports in the Norristown area. Known for his roles as a coach and community leader, McPherson’s efforts have left an indelible mark on countless lives, promoting faith, family, and sportsmanship.
The ceremony will also recognize Alyssa Neilson Borzillo, a graduate of Kennedy Kenrick, Rick Keeley from St. Pius X, and Douglas T. Dunn, a teacher at PJP and St. Pius X, each of whom has made significant contributions to their respective fields.
As the community gears up for this momentous occasion, excitement builds for the reception at 6 p.m. just before the formal induction. Attendees will have the chance to celebrate the achievements and legacies of these remarkable individuals, reinforcing the values of perseverance and community spirit.
