Bryce Young Misses Practice Again, Dalton Prepares for Bills Clash
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young missed practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday due to a right ankle injury. The injury occurred during last Sunday’s narrow victory over the New York Jets, where Young exited the game in the third quarter. His ongoing absence raises concerns about his availability for the upcoming home game against the Buffalo Bills.
Head coach Dave Canales described Young’s status as “day-to-day,” indicating that preparations are being made for veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to start. Young underwent an MRI earlier this week, which thankfully ruled out any major damage to his ankle.
In his third NFL season, Young has thrown for a total of 1,288 yards, with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions across seven games this season. Meanwhile, Dalton, who will celebrate his 38th birthday on October 29, has made appearances in three games this season. He has completed 9 of 13 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown. Notably, Dalton stepped in for Young during the Jets game, completing 4 of 7 attempts for 60 yards.
Dalton brings considerable experience, having spent 15 seasons in the league, including nine with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he was selected to the Pro Bowl three times. This season marks his third with the Panthers.
In addition to Young’s situation, defensive tackle Cam Jackson was added to the injury report due to illness and also did not practice on Thursday. The Panthers will need to assess both players as they prepare for their matchup against the Bills.
