All Nippon Airways Offers Free Flights to 49 Japanese Destinations
All Nippon Airways (ANA) has launched an initiative providing free domestic flights for travelers from the UK and Europe. This promotion aims to encourage visitors to explore lesser-known regions of Japan, alleviating the pressure of overtourism in popular cities such as Tokyo and Kyoto. The offer is available for bookings starting November 24, 2025, and will run until January 31, 2026.
The partnership between ANA and the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) facilitates this “Stopover & Add-on Free Fare” program. Eligible economy passengers can book up to two free domestic flights when making an international booking by the end of January 2026. While the actual travel can occur anytime after this date, travelers must still pay applicable taxes and fees. The flights are subject to availability, and reservations can be made through ANA’s website, travel agents, or their offices outside Japan.
In 2024, Japan welcomed a record 36.9 million tourists. Despite this impressive figure, less than 10% of visitors ventured to regional areas, even though 90% expressed a desire to do so. This initiative aims to direct tourist traffic away from crowded hotspots, allowing travelers to discover the diverse beauty of Japan.
Expanding Access to Japan’s Hidden Gems
The free flights encompass a comprehensive list of 49 destinations across the country, enhancing accessibility to various regions. Notable airports in the Chubu region include Komatsu Airport and Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport, while the Kansai region features Kobe Airport and Osaka International Airport. Other key locations include Hiroshima Airport in the Chūgoku region and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido.
Tourists can choose from various scenic destinations, including Hiroshima and Okinawa. This initiative not only promotes travel to these areas but also supports local economies that benefit from increased tourism. By facilitating access to less frequented locations, ANA and JNTO hope to balance the distribution of visitors throughout Japan.
How to Participate in the Offer
To take advantage of this offer, travelers must book their international flights by January 31, 2026. After securing their international ticket, they can reserve their complimentary domestic flights. The simplicity of this process encourages more tourists to experience Japan’s regional charms without the added financial burden of additional flight costs.
While the allure of Japan’s major cities may be strong, this initiative represents an opportunity for travelers to immerse themselves in the country’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty beyond the urban landscape. With the support of ANA and the JNTO, this strategy is expected to revitalize interest in Japan’s diverse regions and promote sustainable tourism practices.
In conclusion, ANA’s free flight initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing regional tourism in Japan. By encouraging travelers to explore beyond the conventional tourist paths, the airline aims to foster a more balanced and sustainable approach to tourism in the country.
