Intel’s Panther Lake CPU Reveals Mixed Geekbench Results Now
BREAKING: Intel’s highly anticipated Panther Lake CPU has just surfaced in the Geekbench results, revealing 2,849 single-core points and 15,434 multi-core points. The initial benchmark data suggests the performance may be underwhelming compared to competitors, raising questions about Intel’s next steps in the CPU market.
The specific model appearing in the Geekbench results is the Core Ultra 9 386H, a mobile CPU that features a configuration of 16 cores—including four Performance, eight Efficient, and four Low Power Efficient cores. This marks an important moment as it allows for a direct comparison with previous Intel generations.
While the single-core score offers some insight, the multi-core results are more complex due to varying core configurations. The closest existing Intel CPU for comparison, the Core Ultra 9 285H, scored 2,608 single-core points and 14,812 multi-core points, indicating that Panther Lake has made only incremental improvements.
In contrast, Apple’s latest M5 chip is achieving over 4,000 points in single-core performance, and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X2 chip is also outperforming Intel’s latest offerings. As these numbers show, the competition from Arm-based processors remains fierce, leaving Intel trailing in the race for high-performance CPUs.
Despite these less-than-stellar results, it is crucial to note that Geekbench scores are just one aspect of performance evaluation. Intel’s new 18A process node could potentially enhance efficiency and battery life, which are just as critical for mobile CPUs. However, we will have to wait for the official launch at CES in January 2024 for more comprehensive insights into these areas.
As the tech community anticipates further developments, the initial benchmarks suggest that Intel’s Panther Lake may not revolutionize the CPU landscape as expected. The implications for consumers and tech enthusiasts are significant, as the performance metrics could influence decisions for upcoming mobile devices.
Stay tuned for future updates on Intel’s Panther Lake as we track its performance against rivals in the evolving CPU market.
